Yoga on Youtube – Tips to Stay Consistent & Keep Showing Up

Do you need help staying consistent with your yoga practice at home? Yes, wonderful, we’re here to help!
This is a quick guide that will provide you with 6 simple tips on how to utilize YouTube for your yoga practice in the most efficient way. Learn how to smoothly find, play, save, organize and replay your favorite yoga classes, videos and channels.
Take a deep breath. Let’s dive in!
1. Create a separate YouTube account
Create a separate YouTube account only for the purpose of practicing yoga. Now, it’s going to be easier to stick with your intention – to practice yoga – instead of risking being distracted by other unrelated videos.
Also, the YouTube algorithm will give you new video suggestions based on the content you’re already watching, which is awesome if you limit your videos to yoga content! This way you’ll easily encounter new yoga classes with new teachers and yoga approaches.
To get started today with your at-home yoga practice – create a YouTube account and use it only as your yoga account.
Of course, you can use an already existing YouTube account too.

2. Subscribe to your favorite yoga YouTube channels
Now let’s find all your favorite yoga YouTube channels and subscribe to them. You can use our guide to the Best Yoga Channels on YouTube to get started.
Search for them by typing in their YouTube name in the top search field. Once you’ve entered the channel, press the red button “subscribe,” located in the top right corner.
You’ll find all your subscriptions if you click on “Subscriptions” in the left menu, as shown in the picture below.
Once you’ve subscribed to your favorite channels, your account will be full of great yoga content!
3. Create playlists for different needs and focuses
Once you’ve tried out a couple of different yoga classes, teachers, and channels, you will have found classes you would like to easily find and repeat.
Let’s save these classes in a playlist to make it easy for you to access them again. If you really liked a short morning class you took, for instance – create a playlist and name it something like “Short Morning Yoga”. Save the class to that playlist. The next morning you’ll easily access the class again by navigating straight to your “Short Morning Yoga” playlist.
You’ll find your playlists by clicking on the “Library” button in the left column on your YouTube account, shown in the picture below. Save as many classes as you’d like in the different playlists. And of course, the more classes you add to the playlists, the more variety you’ll get.
The easiest way to create a playlist is by navigating directly to the video you’re looking for by searching for it in the top search field. Check out the picture below.
Once you’ve clicked into the video, press the “save” button which you’ll find on the very right on the top menu, as shown in the picture below.
How to save a video to a playlist
Then, you’ll either select to save it to an already existing playlist you’ve created, or click “Create a new playlist”. Check out the picture below.
Name the playlist to something that characterizes the focus of the class, for example “Short Morning Yoga”. Check out the name of the different playlists in the pictures below.

4. Get started with short and quick classes
A trick to stay consistent is to do shorter classes but to do them often. Start with 10-minute classes. And try to do them a couple of times a week. Everyone can make room for 10 minutes – waking up 10 minutes early is a great way to go.
As you get more familiar with practicing yoga and learn what you like and dislike, you can slowly either add classes to your weekly schedule or increase the length of the classes you pick. Make it a daily routine to do 10 minutes of yoga. Or pick 15-20 minute classes, or longer, and do them a couple of times a week.
You’ll soon understand how easy it is to spare at least 10 minutes in your daily schedule for yourself, your health, and your wellbeing.
Here are a couple of great, short 10-minute classes if you haven’t yet found your own favorites. Don’t forget to save them to your playlists if you like them, to easily find them for your next yoga session.

5. Do a yoga class in the morning
As I mentioned above, doing yoga in the morning is a great way to get your daily yoga practice in. In the afternoon, it’s easier to find excuses or to reschedule.
Waking up a little earlier in the morning, and starting your day with yoga, will greatly improve your day. And making this a habit will greatly improve your life!

6. Try different classes, teachers and channels
By trying out different yoga classes taught by different yoga teachers, you’ll not only expose yourself to different kinds of yoga styles and approaches. You will also expand your own yoga practice and experience.
Adding different yoga classes with different teachers and styles will give your playlists and yoga library more variety. Try to alternate between the different classes and channels to not get tired of the videos you might tend to replay often.
Gathering inspiration from different yoga teachers will also ensure that you’re not getting too narrow-minded through only one perspective.
Keep yourself open-minded. That’s when your yoga will peak!
